A comprehensive cross-border circuit through Kenya and Tanzania's most celebrated parks — Lake Nakuru's flamingo-lined shores, the wildlife-rich Maasai Mara, the endless Serengeti plains, Ngorongoro Crater, and a Kilimanjaro-backed finale in Amboseli.
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a Ziwani Trails representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure — rest after your journey, or explore Nairobi's culture, wildlife attractions and dining scene, depending on your arrival time.
Overnight: Ole-Sereni Hotel or similar, NairobiDepart Nairobi after breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park, enjoying a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley with a stop at the viewpoint for photographs. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, then head out on an afternoon game drive in search of flamingos, white rhino, Rothschild's giraffe, buffalo, zebra, hippo and, on occasion, lion and leopard.
Overnight: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge or similar, Lake NakuruA morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park before departing for the world-famous Masai Mara, travelling through Kenya's scenic countryside. Arrive at your camp in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive in search of lion, elephant, cheetah, giraffe, wildebeest and other wildlife.
Overnight: Mara Sweet Acacia or similar, Masai MaraA full day exploring the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives, or a full-day excursion with a picnic lunch. With your experienced guide, explore different areas of the reserve in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, giraffe and zebra. During the migration season (typically July–October), you may also have the chance to witness the wildebeest migration, depending on wildlife movements.
Overnight: Mara Sweet Acacia or similar, Masai MaraCheck out after breakfast and depart for the Isebania border crossing between Kenya and Tanzania. After immigration and customs formalities, continue into Serengeti National Park, exploring its famous endless plains — home to large herds of wildebeest, zebra, antelope and a variety of predators — en route to camp for dinner.
Overnight: Embalakai Serengeti Camp or similar, SerengetiA full day discovering the Serengeti's landscapes and wildlife, with early-morning and late-afternoon game drives or a full-day excursion with a picnic lunch. Keep an eye out for lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, zebra, hippo and other wildlife roaming the plains.
Overnight: Embalakai Serengeti Camp or similar, SerengetiDepart after breakfast for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive in one of Africa's most remarkable wildlife destinations — black rhino, lion, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hyena and a wealth of birdlife on the crater floor. Ascend from the crater and continue to your lodge in Karatu for dinner.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge or similar, KaratuDepart after breakfast for the Namanga border crossing between Tanzania and Kenya. Following immigration formalities, meet your Kenyan driver-guide and continue to Amboseli National Park, known for its large elephant herds and scenic landscapes. Weather permitting, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop to the Amboseli plains.
Overnight: Kilima Safari Camp or similar, AmboseliA full day exploring Amboseli, with opportunities to spot elephant, lion, cheetah, buffalo, zebra and other wildlife. Visit Observation Hill for panoramic views of the plains, swamps and surrounding landscapes, and enjoy a picnic lunch during your game-viewing excursion.
Overnight: Kilima Safari Camp or similar, AmboseliCheck out after breakfast and depart Amboseli for Nairobi. An optional visit to a Maasai village can be arranged en route at an additional cost. Enjoy lunch en route or on arrival in Nairobi, before transferring to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, or your preferred location, marking the end of your Kenya and Tanzania safari.
